Actor who plays Ron Swanson tells MTV News that ‘the evil Tammy Two’ returns in the fall.

As the latest season of “Parks and Recreation” rolls along, fans of the quirky NBC comedy have been rooting for the show’s leading lady, Leslie Knope, as she tries to win the hearts of the folks in Pawnee, Indiana, by running for a spot on the city council.

But Leslie isn’t having all the fun. Pawnee’s resident curmudgeon, Ron Swanson (played by Nick Offerman), is finding himself caught up in an unexpected friendship with the always-optimistic government star Chris Traeger (Rob Lowe). As always, Swanson is working to make sure government doesn’t run smoothly, and of course he faces the possibility that one of his ex-wives could show up and bring their own brand of trouble to his life.

“If we can help it,” Offerman told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival when asked if there would be a chance to bring back one of his character’s former wives, both named Tammy (one played by his real-life wife, Megan Mullally, and the other by Oscar nominee Patricia Clarkson). “I know that there’s one juicy story coming up in the fall for Tammy Two, the evil Tammy Two [Mullally].”

But until then, Offerman, offscreen, will be wearing another hat. He recently wrote one of the show’s upcoming episodes, and in addition to some more Knope-related election excitement there will also be a shakeup in his character’s romantic life.

“Oh gosh. It was so fun and exciting and crazy. The episode is called ‘Lucky.’ Leslie Knope gets this really lucky interview with sort of the Anderson Cooper of Indianapolis. But then the interview is canceled and it comes back on, and some hilarity ensues,” he explained. “Meanwhile, Ron Swanson and Chris Traeger are vying for the attentions of Andy Dwyer’s women’s studies college professor. It’s very funny.”

Ramiro Garcia auditions on “American Idol” Thursday
Photo: Michael Becker / FOX

The “American Idol” judges have mostly seen eye-to-eye (to eye) so far this season, with the majority of contestants being passed through to Hollywood or sent back home by unanimous vote. But on Thursday’s (January 26) episode, we saw several disagreements between the judges, with Jennifer Lopez giving singers a passing grade while Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson flunked them. It was implied but not explicitly spelled out that the boys were voting on looks more than voices, angering Lopez to the point where she mock-stabbed Tyler in the head with a pen.

The dissension continued with contestant Linda Williams, whose version of Alicia Keys’ “Fallin’ ” seemed shaky, though it was good enough — or her looks were — to earn “yes” votes from Tyler and Jackson.

“Wake up! Honestly, I feel like somebody slipped you something,” Lopez told Jackson, as she could sense which way he was leaning. It wasn’t enough to dissuade the Dawg, and after Williams was passed through to Hollywood, Lopez moaned to her fellow judges, “That was awful. That was awful!” Let the drama begin!

The latest episode did its best to ramp up the drama factor, taking a detour from the happy-go-lucky vibe that has purveyed over the first four episodes of the season. Even though the Galveston, Texas, auditions gave out 54 Golden Tickets — more than any other audition city so far this season — the show highlighted fewer of those winners than any other episode, instead introducing viewers to oddballs and wannabes, in keeping with years past. Is this the producers’ way of reacting to the show’s slipping ratings?

The night’s warmest story belonged to 28-year-old Ramiro Garcia, a worship leader in Houston who was born without ears and was told he would grow up mute. After several surgeries, doctors discovered his ear canal ,and he taught himself to not only speak but to sing. His husky, smoky version of “Amazing Grace” was a standout. Tyler told him, “I like your insides” — a weird compliment, to be sure, but it was enough to give Garcia a pass through to Hollywood.

Another standout was 20-year-old Cortez Shaw of Garland, Texas, who put a warm R&B twist on Adele’s “Someone Like You” and instantly won the favor of the judges, who implied they’d heard far too many botched versions of 2011′s #1 sob song. Shaw said he grew up bouncing between his friends’ homes while his single mother struggled with homelessness, but he put a positive spin on everything and came out ahead. And he’s not lacking for confidence: “I’m gonna win ‘American Idol,’ ” he said after earning his Golden Ticket to Hollywood. “OH MY GOD!”

Kristine Osorio also sang an Adele song — “One and Only” — and equally wowed the judges. The 28-year-old mother of three from Amarillo, Texas, was praised by Tyler for her upper register, and her slick hairdo and tattooed upper body give her a strong, unique look.

Also graduating through to Hollywood were 17-year-old Skylar Laine from Brandon, Mississippi, a deer-killin’, ATV-ridin’ country gal who was more than convincing singing Pistol Annies’ “Hell on Heels,” and Baylie Brown, a 21-year-old who made it through to Hollywood back in season six and return this year on the strength of her country-fried rendition of Bon Jovi’s “Bed of Roses.”

“American Idol” is back Wednesday to put a bird on it with a trip to Portland, Oregon.

"I've heard that from about 200 people now, and it might be one of those situations where it's just an online rumor or it might be true. But if you see anyone from Led Zeppelin around, let me know. I think I should actually fill in for Jimmy Page on the Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss tour." Cornell's denial comes just a day after <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/aerosmith/artist.jhtml">Aerosmith</a>Aerosmith guitarist <a href="http://aeronewsdaily.com/blog/2008/10/31/aerosmith-guitarist-says-page-trying-to-motivate-plant-to-return-to-zeppelin/" target="_blank">Brad Whitford confirmed reports</a> that frontman Steven Tyler recently met with Zeppelin for an impromptu jam session. "They did it for fun," Whitford said during an appearance on the syndicated show "Todd N Tyler Radio Empire." "I actually think Jimmy wanted Steven to come over and play a little bit because I think he was trying to light a fire under Robert." Rumors of a Zeppelin reunion tour have abounded since the iconic band played <a href="/news/articles/1576186/led-zeppelin-give-fans-a-whole-lotta-love-at-reunion-show.jhtml">a single reunion set</a> last year at London's O2 Arena. <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/twisted_sister/artist.jhtml">Twisted Sister</a>Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider added fuel to the fire last month when he revealed that the group was thinking of touring, with or without Plant. <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2008/10/13/another-led-zeppelin-rumor-almost-debunked/">According to Snider</a>, the rest of the band told Plant, " 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go. Here's a gazillion dollars on the table. If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid [Myles Kennedy].' " "And he can sing the sh– out of Zeppelin," Snider added. "They're going to hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK,' and step in." In a recent interview, Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought to take over for Plant. "We are trying out a couple of singers," he said. "We want to do it. It's sounding great, and we want to get on and get out there." But Jones insists that he, Page and Bonham aren't interested in finding a Plant clone. "It's got to be right," he said. "There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be onboard." Of course, even if Zeppelin were to approach him, Cornell might be too busy to take over vocals for the band. His upcoming <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/timbaland/artist.jhtml">Timbaland</a>Timbaland-produced solo LP, <a href="/news/articles/1596730/chris-cornell-debuts-timbaland-produced-track-on-tv-show.jhtml"><i>Scream,</i></a> will be released within the next few months. Cornell told MTV News last month that some of his fans might consider <i>Scream</i> something of a departure, but he doesn't see it that way. "It makes me happy that there's this perception that I have a group of fans that I'm now sort of throwing a curve at and what their reaction will be," he said. "But I've been in this situation so many times already. When I put out [1999's] <i>Euphoria Morning,</i> my main goal was to create an album that sounded like nothing I'd done in Soundgarden, and I did that. I also had that with Temple of the Dog, where I showed up with songs that weren't necessarily riff-based. And then, of course, the pairing of me and members of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rage_against_the_machine/artist.jhtml">Rage Against the Machine</a>Rage Against the Machine had everyone sort of speculating about what that would sound like. "It feels like I've done this so many times that when it's presented to me as being a departure, I feel that's a misconception," he added. "I feel like that's my theme at this point."</p>

<P>The cast of "Les Miserables" is really shaping up to be quite the A-list ensemble. With folks like <a href="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/10/18/anne-hathaway-joins-les-miserables">Anne Hathaway</a>, Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Carter and <a href="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/06/16/hugh-jackman-les-miserables-russell-crowe-superman">Hugh Jackman</a> already onboard for the big-screen adaptation of the stage show, word comes that both <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/swift__taylor/artist.jhtml">Taylor Swift</a> and Amanda Seyfried are deep in talks for roles in the film. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:722983" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Universal has offered Swift the role of Eponine and Seyfried the part of Cosette, <a href="http://broadwayworld.com/article/Amanda-Seyfried-Taylor-Swift-Complete-LES-MISERABLES-Film-Cast-20120103" target="_blank">Broadwayworld.com</a> has confirmed. Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood had all reportedly been in the running for the coveted roles. The website says rehearsals start later this month, so official casting news should come down the pipeline soon. The flick is slated to start shooting in May with Tom Hooper directing. It's expected to be released on December 7, 2012. When Swift spoke to MTV News at the launch of her <a href="/news/articles/1672695/taylor-swift-acting-project.jhtml">Wonderstruck perfume,</a> she teased she was working on "some surprise projects that may or may not happen, and possibly some acting." "I've just been so excited about what's gonna happen in the next year," she said. "I'm also really excited about [the next album]. I've been writing all the time. I've been writing so much for the new record. I can't believe I'm saying that already. It comes out in a year, but I'm already excited about it." Seyfried displayed her singing chops in another Broadway-to-screen adaptation when she landed the lead in "Mamma Mia!" back in 2008. The album will be produced by Grammy-winning producer T Bone Burnett and released before the movie hits theaters on March 23. Burnett and the group the Civil Wars got together to write an original tune for the CD with Swift, the first single, "Safe and Sound," which was released to iTunes on December 23. The tune shot to #1 on the iTunes singles list within 24 hours of release. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:682527" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Also serving up fresh tracks are the Arcade Fire, who collaborated with Burnett on "Horn of Plenty," and the Decemberists, who've offered up the original song "One Engine." Oscar-winning composer <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/78314/personmain.jhtml">Danny Elfman</a> recently exited the film, citing scheduling issues as he works to finish up the music for "Dark Shadows" and "Men in Black 3." Inspired by the best-selling young-adult novel by Suzanne Collins, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/422817/moviemain.jhtml">"The Hunger Games"</a> follows the path of 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), who is chosen to compete in a vicious televised tournament in which 24 teenagers from a post-apocalyptic society fight to the death for the entertainment of the masses. ‘The Office’: Five More Spin-Off Ideas

In light of Rainn Wilson’s impending new show, the MTV News team has compiled its own wish list of TV spin-offs.
By Josh Wigler

Rainn Wilson on “The Office”
Photo: NBC

“The Office” is reportedly following the “Battlestar Galactica” model of launching a spin-off of its very own: a show following Rainn Wilson‘s maniacal assistant to the regional manager, Dwight Schrute. In the spirit of Dwight leaving Dunder Mifflin for greener, beet-ier pastures, the MTV News team has created its own wish list of TV spin-offs.

Dwight’s permanent relocation to the Schrute family beet farm is a controversial move, certainly, but also a potentially awesome one. Think about all the television characters from your favorite series, both canceled and ongoing, that you would want to see in a show of their own. Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion Lannister yukking it up with mercenary buddy Bronn all over Westeros? “True Blood” hunk Eric Northman’s days as a Viking before arriving in Bon Temps? There’s simply no way that these shows would not be incredible, or, at the least, wonderfully epic failures.

Read on for our highest hopes, and drop your own wishes in the comments section!

“Full Measure”
The most we ever learn about Mike on “Breaking Bad” comes from the episode “Half Measures.” During a four-minute monologue, he shares a story about his previous life as a beat cop and one of the biggest regrets of his life, the time he didn’t kill an abusive husband when he had the chance. A spin-off following Mike during his transition from beat cop to hired muscle would work not only because he’s a total badass, but thematically his arc would mirror Walter White’s in a way. When did the cop become a drug lord’s right hand? That’s a show I’d watch. — Kevin P. Sullivan

“Masuka: Forensic Investigator”
Sure, Dexter’s fine. But what about everyone’s favorite quirky, bald pervert? Masuka’s spin-off would be a lot like “Dexter,” except with less murder and more strippers. Like, way more strippers. In fact, 75 percent of the show would take place at a strip club. Just think of all of the raunchy things he would say in his inner monologue! — Ryan Rigley

“Lost: The Hurley Years”
Of course the most epic spin-off of all would star none other than Hugo “Hurley” Reyes of “Lost” fame. He and Ben Linus could go around the world recruiting awesome young people with supernatural bird-killing powers whose plots never get resolved, and eating all the Mr. Cluck’s the world has to offer. I’d call it “Hurley’s Super Fun Time Island Action Team Protection Squad,” or something to that effect. — Brian Phares

“The Ugly Truth”
This series is based on the aftermath of the drama-filled “Pretty Little Liars” finale in which it is revealed that Aria is undoubtedly “A” and the brutal murderer of “Queen Bee” Alison. After it is exposed that Aria is the one responsible for all the torment, trickery and burden “A” caused, her friends, family and basically every breathing thing hates her. Forced to live in a world full of “Haters,” Aria’s life is filled with everlasting sorrow and “she be dealing with some issues that you can’t believe!” #KanyeVoice. — Miranda Johnson

“The Smash”
Coach Eric Taylor, Tim “33″ Riggins, Matt “QB1″ Saracen… great characters, all. But the “Friday Night Lights” star I find myself thinking about most often is Brian “Smash” Williams, the astonishingly talented Dillon Panthers running back who left early in season three to bring his A-game to Texas A&M. Unlike most actors who came and went on “FNL,” we never saw Smash again following his departure (save for a few shout-outs here and there). Of all the later season cameos, how on earth did we never get to see him again? Haven’t you heard: he’s the Smash, baby! Peter Berg, Jason Katims and Gaius Charles, I’m begging you: bring the Williams family back to the small screen with Smash’s days as an Aggie and, inevitably, his transition to the pros. After all, you know what they say: clear eyes, full hearts, awesome spin-offs — can’t lose! — Josh Wigler
